Mindfulness-based Sex Therapy (MBST) was developed by Elisha Goldstein, PhD, and Bonnie Zylbergold, MA, based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program. The MBST program was designed specifically to provide an awareness training that aims to enrich people's sexual lives, a factor integral to one’s own well-being and fulfillment.
The website (www.mindfulsextherapy.com) provides additional information about MBST. The MBST program takes the form of 8 weekly classes, plus an all-day session held at around week 6.
A set of 3 CDs accompany the program, so that participants can practice at home once a day throughout the course. Research has shown that people who practice the skills taught in this program show significant stress-reduction, an obstacle to sexual fulfillment, and increased connectedness with others.
